Glen & Sari's lalaland. We bought our home in 1996 & moved right in. We lived in the house for 15 years. We love living on the ocean & being part of all that nature has to offer.
We both worked on the island & Glen still does..We endured a lot of different weather conditions. Repairing the damage with each storm. But Hurricaine IAN took the interior & a lot of the exterior of our home along with many homes of our friends & families,We were blessed to have family, volunteers, FIMA, citizens ins. co. & multiple donations.Glen is a contractor so we were lucky to remodel sooner than others. Amazing how people volunteered to help, simply amazing. God was definitely helping us all.
The island is beautiful, like the Bahamas but in the U.S. No passport required.
Community dock for your boat( or take the private water taxi), walk (3 mins.) to the beach house. Our Paradise found,R & R at its finest. One of Florida's last undeveloped islands. Dock(#6) your boat on the bay at our stilt home sits right on the beach, down the stairs to the shaded deck, thru the gate to the beach. You can be in the water and still be watching the kids. No long walks to the beach. At night sit out on the sun balcony, light a candle & listen to the waves gently touch the seashells, music that never stops.
After getting your groceries, ( or have them delivered by Evan)you will arrive at Eldred's Marina (6301 Boca Grande causeway, Placida, FL 33946. Park your car ($8.00.per day). There is an ATM at the marina.TAKE THE private Pirates ( Captain E)water taxi across the Bay. Or rent a boat ( John Seiden)at Eldreds Marina.Load up your groceries and 'stuff' and walk/golfcart five minutes to the Gulf of Mexico, what a site!!!
If you wish to leave the island during your stay, you may book a reservation with the private water taxi, Pirates - rates vary per person, one way.
What you will not find on the island, stores, restaurants (there is waterfront dining by boat),crowded beaches, cars. You are likely to see a dolphin, gopher turtles, rabbits, manatee, snook, sea turtle, eagles, osprey.
